The primary objective of the Fundacja Minionej Epoki (Foundation of the Bygone Era) is creating Muzeum PRL-u (Museum of Polish People's Republic) in Ruda Śląska.

Our initiative is unpolitical and it's task is only collecting, keeping and sharing broadly defined materials on the period of Polish history from 22 of July 1944 to 29 of December 1989.

We hope that this project will contribute in strengthening historical knowledge.

Declaration of patronage

4 of December 2007

We the undersigned, concerned with preserving the memory of our nation's history and with the intention of strengthening the sense of patriotism among the younger generation of Poles, wish to take honorary patronage of the initiative to create the "Muzeum PRL-u" (Museum of Polish People's Republic).

We believe that this initiative will remind that the times, which from the perspective of the 21st century are mainly depicted in films from that era as grotesque; also carried the burden of oppression and repression. It is our desire to make young Poles learn the truth about the events of that time, the way of living, and about the conditions in which their parents grew up; also we would like to remind the older part of society the times of their youth.

By supporting the initiative to establish the Museum, we are commmited to support this noble undertaking with the means at our disposal, and in particular to take it under our patronage. We believe that the establishment of this Museum will contribute to deepening historical awareness and the responsibility of contemporary society for the fate of the Polish nation.
